Another great success
Thousands of snowboard enthusiasts were able to discover for free the
joys of snowboarding on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 for the 7th
edition of World Snowboard Day.
Every year,
since 2006, this free celebration day dedicated to snowboarding and its culture
has launched the winter season.
This year, 152 events were organized in 35 countries.
The program
for World Snowboard Day 2012 included First-timer snowboard lessons,
demonstrations, competitions, gear tests, film showings, barbecues, concerts,
Carnival, photo contests, evening parties or simply going out with friends to
ride.
A day full of excitement and energy that would not
have been nearly as successful without the entire international snowboard community (snow resorts, clubs, shops, schools,
federations, riders, associations...) rallying
together, the support of Snowsports
Industries America, Core Power Asia and the World Snowboard Tour, and the charismatic personality of Anne-Flore Marxer, Freeride World
Champion and official ambassador for World Snowboard Day 2012.
Event organizers EuroSIMA, the World Snowboard Federation and Outdoor Sports Valley would
like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all partners and events organizers for
the hard work, time and energy they once again dedicated to this day.
For this new edition three new countries joined the adventure:
Argentina, Mexico and Mongolia, demonstrating once again the community aspect and international element of
snowboarding.

The PLANKING craze reaches the World Snowboard Day
Dear
plankers, we salute you!
The World
Snowboard Day Team is pleased to announce the PLANKING contest with your snowboarding
gear on Facebook.
PLANKING
is a recent fad, which is quickly gaining popularity. It consists of posing for
a picture lying face down in incongruous or unusual locations.
To make
the WSD 2012 more memorable, participate in the contest simply by posting your
best pictures of planking with your snowboarding gear on the World Snowboard

There
will be close to 3 000 € in prizes to be won, kindly
donated by GoPro, Völkl, Ride snowboards and Billabong.

World Snowboard Day has now over 100 events!
Countdown
has started for the 7th edition of World Snowboard Day and there are
new events from different countries joining us every day. We have currently over 100 events in more than 30 countries!

The world’s top female snowboarders will be spicing up this new WSD edition!
As you probably know, World Snowboard Day will be back on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 for its 7th edition. This is once again the opportunity to discover, for free, snowboarding as a sport and culture across the world’s summits. Already 50 events will be held in 22 countries!
Whether you’re a beginner or an expert rider, you will be able to take advantage of the variety of activities organized on this day (snowboard lessons, equipment tests, demonstrations, meet pro riders, concerts and much more) in a festive and welcoming atmosphere all around the world.
This year, one of the world’s top female snowboarders will be spicing up this new edition: Anne-Flore Marxer,
Freeride World Champion, agreed to be the official ambassador for WSD 2012!

event that provides the general public with the opportunity, for free,
to discover the culture of snowboarding and the joys of
riding. The next edition will take place on December 30, 2012.
In 2011, World Snowboard Day counted 37 countries,
167 events, and more than 25 000 participants!

snowboarding and want to organize an event for free (we provide you all

A new partner for WSD
World
Snowboard Day is proud to welcome a new partner to the team: the TTR World
Snowboard Tour! Founded by Terje Haakonsen in 2002, the “Ticket To Ride” is an
international freestyle snowboarding event tour. Thanks to this partnership,
the efforts of all local actors, the World Snowboard Federation, EuroSIMA,
Outdoor Sports Valley, Snowsports Industries America and Core Power Asia, we
hope to generate more than 170 events in 2012.

Impatiently awaiting the next edition of
World Snowboard Day even though this winter is still going strong? Great news,
we’ve picked the date!
We’ll see you on Sunday December 30th, 2012, with the same
bold objective: a wide variety of activities, for free, to discover
the joy of sliding on snow, to share your passion for snowboarding with
others, and to have an outrageously excellent experience!
Between now and December 30th, the upcoming months will be full of surprises, with the first
